Stake Sports Betting: Football, NBA, UFC, IPL & Esports

A sport-by-sport breakdown of what Stake's sportsbook actually delivers across football, NBA, UFC, IPL, and esports markets.

What Stake's Sportsbook Is Actually Good At (And Where It Falls Short)

Stake's casino side gets most of the attention, which makes sense given how aggressively they market it. But there's a full sportsbook sitting right there, and depending on what sport you follow, it ranges from genuinely solid to barely worth the click.

I've been poking around it across five different sports over the past few months. Here's what I found.

Football

Football is where Stake puts real effort, and it shows. The coverage is wide. Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, Serie A, Bundesliga, plus a long tail of lower-tier European leagues, South American competitions, and some African league fixtures you genuinely don't see everywhere.

Markets per match are decent for top fixtures. You'll get your 1X2, both teams to score, over/under goals, Asian handicaps, correct score, first goalscorer, and a fair chunk of player props for big games. For mid-table Championship fixtures on a Tuesday night, the market depth drops off considerably, which is honest but worth knowing before you go looking for niche lines.

The odds on football are competitive in my experience, not the absolute sharpest you'll find compared to a dedicated sportsbook like Pinnacle, but they're not soft either. Margins hover around 5-7% on most main markets, which is acceptable.

Live betting works fine. The interface updates quickly enough that I haven't had issues with stale lines during play, though I'd be cautious staking big on fast-moving in-play markets on any platform.

NBA

The NBA coverage on Stake is actually better than I expected. Regular season games get a solid selection of markets, player points/rebounds/assists props included, and the playoff coverage is thorough. Finals games in particular tend to have 30+ markets available.

What I'd flag is that the pre-game lines on NBA can feel a touch sluggish to move compared to sharp books. If you're betting for recreational fun, that's fine. If you're trying to find value off breaking injury news, you might find the lines have already adjusted by the time you're placing. The usual caveat with any soft book applies.

Parlay builders work across NBA games, which is where a lot of casual bettors spend their time anyway. No complaints there.

UFC

UFC is where I'd genuinely say Stake does well. The moneyline odds on main card fights are competitive, sometimes better than what I've seen at other mid-tier sportsbooks. They cover prelims too, not just the headline bouts, which matters if you follow the sport properly.

Method of victory markets are available for most main card fights, as are round betting props for bigger events. Over/under rounds is standard across the board.

The one criticism is that parlay building across UFC events can get thin. If you want to chain together four or five prelim fights in a same-event parlay, you'll sometimes find that certain bouts just aren't available for it, or the options narrow significantly. Not a dealbreaker, but annoying if that's your thing.

IPL and Cricket

For Indian users especially, the IPL coverage on Stake has grown noticeably. Match winner, top batsman, top bowler, first over runs, and various ball-by-ball live markets are all there during the tournament window.

Honestly, the in-play cricket markets are where I'd say this section earns its place. The live betting interface during IPL matches is active, the odds move with the game, and there's enough variety to keep things interesting across 20 overs.

Outside of the IPL window, cricket coverage thins out more than you'd want. Test cricket gets basic coverage, The Hundred gets some attention, and bilateral series are hit-or-miss. If you're a year-round cricket bettor, Stake probably shouldn't be your primary book. Seasonal, it's fine.

Esports

The esports section is present, covers the majors (CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends, Valorant), and lists live odds during big tournament brackets. But I'll be honest: the depth here is mid.

For Tier 1 events like a CS2 Major or The International, you'll get map betting, round handicaps, and player kill props. That's solid. Drop down to Tier 2 competition and you're often looking at just match winner lines. It does the job for casual esports fans, but dedicated esports bettors who want deep markets on regional leagues will find the coverage limited.

It's also worth noting that odds compilation for esports is an area where a lot of books struggle, Stake included. The lines on esports are softer than on football or basketball, which cuts both ways depending on how you look at it.

Side-by-Side Summary

| Sport | Market Depth | Odds Quality | Live Betting | Best For | |------------|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------------------| | Football | High (top tiers) | Competitive | Good | Casual to mid-serious | | NBA | Medium-High | Decent | Fine | Recreational bettors | | UFC | High (main card) | Strong | Good | Fight fans | | IPL/Cricket | Seasonal high | Decent | Very active | IPL season only | | Esports | Tier 1 only | Soft | Inconsistent | Casual fans |

The sportsbook is worth using as a companion to everything else on the platform. If you're already there for casino or originals, having sports markets accessible without switching accounts is genuinely convenient. It's not the book I'd use if sports betting were my whole focus. For that, there are sharper dedicated sportsbooks out there. But for what it is, it covers the major sports with enough depth to keep most recreational bettors happy, and the UFC and football sections in particular are worth a look.
