Responsible Gambling
Gambling should stay fun. This page explains how to keep it that way, how to spot when it isn't, and where to get free, confidential help.
๐ 18+ only
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal gambling age in your country, if higher) to gamble. Stake verifies age and identity, and so should you: never let minors use your account, and protect devices with casino apps with a password.
๐ฒ Entertainment, not income
Casino games have a built-in house edge, which means that over time the house wins. Treat every deposit as the price of entertainment, like a cinema ticket, not as an investment. Never gamble to pay bills, repay debts or win back money you have lost. Rakeback reduces the cost of playing a little; it does not turn gambling into a way to make money.
Do I have a problem?
Answer these questions honestly. If you say yes to even one or two, it is worth taking a break and talking to someone.
- 1.Do you spend more money or time gambling than you planned?
- 2.Do you chase losses, depositing again to win back what you lost?
- 3.Have you borrowed money, sold things or used bill money to gamble?
- 4.Do you hide your gambling or lie about it to family or friends?
- 5.Do you feel restless, irritable or anxious when you try to cut down?
- 6.Do you gamble to escape stress, boredom, loneliness or a low mood?
- 7.Has gambling caused arguments, missed work or problems at school?
- 8.Do you need bigger bets to feel the same excitement?
Problem gambling can happen to anyone, and help works. The organisations below are free and confidential.
Stake's responsible gambling tools
Stake.com offers tools to help you stay in control. Where exactly they sit in your account settings can change, so if you can't find one, open Stake live support and ask: the team can set it up for you.
Deposit and loss limits
Set a maximum you can deposit or lose over a day, week or month. Once you reach it, you can't go over until the period resets.
Cool-off / take a break
Pause your account for a short period, for example a day or a few weeks, whenever you feel you need some distance.
Self-exclusion
Close your account for a longer period or permanently if gambling has become a problem. Self-exclusion is designed to be hard to undo, and that is the point.
Talk to live support
Not sure which tool fits or how to turn it on? Contact Stake live support and ask for the responsible gambling options.
Limits work best when you set them before you play, while you are calm, not in the middle of a session.
Budget tips
- โDecide on a fixed amount before you play and only use money you can afford to lose.
- โSet a time limit and use a phone alarm to stick to it.
- โNever chase losses. When the budget is gone, the session is over.
- โKeep gambling money separate from money for rent, food and bills.
- โDon't gamble when you are drunk, upset, stressed or tired.
- โTake regular breaks and balance gambling with other hobbies.
- โTreat a win as luck: withdraw part of it instead of playing it all back.
Where to get help
These organisations offer free, confidential support for players and their families:
UK charity with advice, self-assessment tools and links to free treatment.
Free support and counselling in the UK, including the National Gambling Helpline.
Phone: 0808 8020 133
US National Council on Problem Gambling: a confidential helpline you can call or text 24/7.
International online support with live chat and forums in many languages.
Free self-help meetings worldwide for people who want to stop gambling.
Check your local laws
Online gambling is restricted or illegal in some countries. Check the laws where you live before you play. Stake.com is not available everywhere, for example in the United States or the United Kingdom (US players can use Stake.us, a separate site). Never use a VPN to get around restrictions: it breaks Stake's terms and can lead to a closed account and lost funds.
Our role
RazorAffiliate is an independent affiliate site, not Stake and not a casino. We earn a commission when you join Stake with code RAZOR or our links. The code gives 5% rakeback only; it is not a deposit bonus. We can't set limits or close accounts for you. For that, contact Stake live support directly.
